THE CRIME & DISORDER ACT, 1998: A CONCISE GUIDE - L Jason-Lloyd October 2000, Updated January 2001

This book is specially written for all practitioners within the criminal justice system.  This includes legal practitioners, police officers, court staff, social workers, magistrates, local authorities, the prison service, probation officers and advice centres, as well as lecturers and students engaged in criminal justice studies. This latest edition contains many new implementation dates A number of provisions have been repealed and consolidated under the Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000.

Written in a concise manner to enable the Act to be understood quickly, the book is useful to lawyers and non-lawyers alike.  As a looseleaf publication it can be updated to keep apace with significant changes brought about by case law and any new legislation, and where new Acts have superseded this one, the information remains as useful reference.

A5 loose leaf binder, ISBN  978-1-85450-422-7,  GBP £25.95 (ISBN-10 1 85450 422 3)

THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACT 1991, AMENDED BY THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACT 1993, THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND PUBLIC ORDER ACT 1994, THE CRIME (SENTENCES) ACT 1997 & THE CRIME AND DISORDER ACT 1998- A BASIC GUIDE  Leonard Jason‑Lloyd (2000 edition, Updated January 2001)

CJA 1991 & relevant parts of CJA 1993, CJ&POA 1994, CSA 1997 & the CDA 1998 are reproduced.  The Magistrates' Association Sentencing Guidelines, 1993, is reproduced in full. Due to the enactment of the Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000 and the proposed changes under the current Criminal Justice & Court Services Bill, it is no longer possible to update the coverage of Parts I & II of the 1991 Act,  these chapters remain as reference information.  Volume 2 contains Home Office Documents with examples of the original Court Escort Service operational specification, tender documents for the operating contract of Wolds Remand Prison, job description of the Prison & Escort Monitor and training schedule for lay observers. Volume Two is only sold with Volume One or to those who have already bought volume One.

“The sentencing and procedural provisions of the criminal law suffer these days from constant change and hence there is practicality in a loose-leaf, easy-to-handle volume on the Criminal Justice Act 1991 as amended...  The volume begins with easily readable, colour coded thematic commentaries ...  The first and second volumes ... may be considered useful reference works in a court’s or private practitioner’s library.” (Justice of the Peace, review of first edition.)

THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE ACT 1993 (AS AMENDED) - A BASIC GUIDE.- Leonard Jason-Lloyd (Updated January 2001)

A thorough yet easy to read and easy to follow guide to the whole of the 1993 Act.  Contains references to the Drug Trafficking Act 1994, which consolidates all of the earlier provisions regarding drug trafficking and the laundering of drug trafficking proceeds which, on 3 February 1995, put into effect the relevant provisions under the Criminal Justice Act 1993.  Both the CJA 1993 and Money Laundering Regulations are reproduced in full.

Suitable for students and professionals. Although the Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000 has repealed and consolidated much of the 1993 Act, this book is still useful as reference information.
