In a small organisation or unit, each
person has to make an equal contribution to the overall success. Any
difficulties with under-achievers can be more easily managed within a large
organisation; in a small organisation even one unreliable person can cause a
serious problem, with detrimental effect on overall performance. You must
recruit competent and committed core staff, but many small organisations rely
on volunteers, which makes for more complex staffing issues. |
|
|
|
This
Unit deals with the basics of recruitment, selection and interviewing, but
concentrates on managing the organisation as a group (both paid staff and
volunteers) to the benefit of the whole. This can sometimes require hard
decisions and the case studies help you to develop strategies for this. |
|
|

The Unit comprises: |
